The best way to figure out if your roof needs to be replaced is to call BMR Homes, Inc. out to take a look at it. Roofing inspection by the Birmingham roofing experts of BMR Homes, Inc. Remodeling and Restoration will provide you with a comprehensive plan on how best to proceed with your roofing solution. Reaction is a major way to see if you need a new roof, meaning something has happened to your roof and you see the affects right then. The most common would be a tree falling on your roof, your roof leaks in a storm, or wind has torn shingles off the roof. These are all very common in Alabama. Other than the visible things that happen to a roof, it is sometimes difficult to tell when a roof needs to be replaced. That being said, there are drawbacks to not replacing a roof when it needs it and cost is a major one. If the roof fails during a big storm, several hours of water containment and cleanup duties will be needed.

BMR Homes, Inc. is a Certified CertainTeed

Master Shingle Applicator and Shingle Quality Specialist

BMR Homes is a Certified CertainTeed Certified Master Shingle Applicator and Shingle Quality Specialist. This means several things, our credentials are verified with the manufacturer, and the proper training to replace your new roof has been completed. As a result, we are able to offer the best and most comprehensive warranty coverage available to any homeowner.

Here are several steps to ensuring that your new roof will protect your home from the elements and that you are covered should anything arise down the road:

  • Old shingles, flashing, underlayment and drip edge (if any) are torn off and the debris is hauled away. Roof sheathing is inspected for integrity. If the sheathing is rotten, new sub-roofing panels will be installed. In townhomes, a fire-retardant material will be used.
  • Leak prevention systems are installed after all sheathing is properly installed. The leak prevention membrane is installed around roof edges, ridges and dormer valleys. This step comes standard with our roofing system, but is not included in most roofing jobs.

  • Next, the appropriate underlayment is placed to cover the remaining areas of exposed sheathing panels. The underlayment is installed evenly and neatly to promote smooth water flow down the shingles and into the gutter system.

  • Water diverts and flashing is installed. Corner water diverters will be installed anywhere a valley meets a gutter to prevent water overflow. This step comes standard with BMR, but is not included in most roofing projects. Flashing, chimney wraps, and pipe collars will be installed as well.

  • Shingles of the customer's choice are then installed.

  • Finally, all debris, nails and trash in the yard will be cleaned and hauled away.
